App: One Page: Read a Page a Day (com.zilloris.onepage)
Updated: 5 September 2026

The short version

Your reading stays on your phone. Your books, their text, your highlights, your notes and your reading log are stored on your device and are never uploaded.

The app sends four narrow things to Google Firebase: crash reports, anonymous feature-usage counts, performance timings, and a request for its own configuration. Each is described below. There is no account, no advertising, no advertising identifier, and nothing is ever sold or used to profile you.

Android's own backup, also described below, can copy your reading record — never your books — into your own Google Drive if you have device backup switched on.

What the app stores, and where

Your books and their text, the pages you have read, the lines you keep, your streak, and your settings are stored in the app's own private storage on your device.

Books you import stay there. The file you choose is copied into the app's private storage so it can be read offline. It is never uploaded, and the app has no way to share the book's text with anyone.

What leaves the device

What you send yourself: when you tap share — a line from your canon, a receipt, or an export of your notes — Android hands that one item to the app you pick.

And the four things below, which go to Google Firebase. Nothing else. In particular, the text of your books, your highlights, your notes and your reading log are never transmitted by the app.

Crash reports, usage counts, performance, and configuration

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). If the app crashes, a report of what the code was doing at that moment — the technical trace, your device model and Android version — is sent so the fault can be fixed. It never contains the text of your books or anything you wrote.

Usage counts (Firebase Analytics). The app counts how its features are used — how often the reader is opened, which screens are visited — tied to a random installation identifier, not to your name, email, or anything that identifies you. Collection of the advertising identifier is switched off in the app itself: there are no ads, so there is nothing to measure.

Configuration (Firebase Remote Config). The app periodically asks for its own settings — for example, an updated link to this policy. This is a download, not an upload: no reading data travels with it.

Performance traces (Firebase Performance Monitoring). The app measures how long its own screens and requests take — app start, page render, config fetches — so slowness can be found and fixed. Timings and device model, never content.

These services are run for us by Google LLC, which processes this data on our behalf under Google's privacy policy. Telemetry is kept by Firebase for a limited period and deleted on Google's standard schedule; there is no account, so none of it can be looked up by who you are.

Permissions

Notifications, if you allow them, are used for exactly one reminder a day at the time you chose. Declining costs you nothing else in the app, and you can turn it off in Settings or in Android at any time.

Opening a book uses Android's file picker, which gives the app access to the single file you select and nothing more. The app never asks for access to your storage as a whole.

The app also holds Android's ordinary network permission, used only for the crash reports, usage counts, performance timings and configuration described above, and by Google Play on this phone to ask whether a newer version of this app exists so an update can be offered in place — a check that carries nothing about your reading. The advertising-ID permission that analytics libraries usually bring along has been removed from this app.

On your home screen

The widget is optional, and if you add one it shows what the app shows: the day you are on, the book you are in, and the page you stopped at. That means a book's title can be read by anyone who can see your home screen, without unlocking anything. If that matters for what you are reading, don't add the widget — the app works exactly the same without it.

The launcher icon can also change colour on days you have read, which is off unless you switch it on in Settings. It says nothing about which book.

Both are drawn on your phone from data already on it. Neither sends anything anywhere.

Backup

If you have Android backup switched on, Android copies some of this app's data into your own Google Drive. It is your Drive, not ours: we have no account, no server, and no way to see it.

What it takes is the record — your streak, your canon, your shelf and your settings. It does not take the books. Their text stays on your phone, because you already own the file it came from and a lost book is one re-import away, while a lost streak is gone for good.

Moving directly to a new phone is different: that hand-off is device to device with nothing uploaded, so it carries the books as well.

You can turn all of this off in Android's own backup settings, and the app will not mind.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete account & data removes everything on the device: your books and their text, your reading history, your canon, and your settings. It is immediate and it cannot be undone, which is why the app offers you an export first. Uninstalling the app removes the same data from your phone; a copy already taken by Android backup is removed through Android's backup settings, since that copy is in your Drive and not somewhere the app can reach.

Crash reports and usage counts already sent to Firebase are held under a random identifier with no account attached, expire on Google's standard retention schedule, and cannot be traced back to you by us. Questions about any of it: the contact above.

Children

One Page is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. The telemetry described above is not tied to a person of any age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date above changes with it. The policy ships inside the app and is also published here; the app's copy is updated with the app.
